Dr. Dillon, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider, has been in practice at Awakenings KC Clinical Neuroscience Institute since March of 2022. Currently, he serves as the lead ketamine therapist and nurse practitioner, evaluating and treating patients with various types of mental health conditions. Dr. Dillon has an extensive background in emergency, flight, and critical care nursing. After working in one of the largest psychiatric emergency departments in Kansas City, Truman Medical Center, he completed his master’s degree in nursing and obtained national board certification as a family nurse practitioner. As a nurse practitioner, he spent almost four years working for the department of Trauma Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2020 he began working on his doctoral research at Wichita State University, investigating the effects of ketamine for major depressive disorder. His research study was completed and presented in 2022, earning his doctoral degree in nursing practice. During his doctoral program at Wichita State, he was accepted into a yearlong fellowship training program, in psychedelic assisted therapy, at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Boulder, Colorado. His training focused on the therapeutic use of ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA, for the treatment of mental health conditions. In 2022, he completed his fellowship training and passed the certification exam to become a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider. Dr. Dillon has a deep passion advancing therapeutic treatments and helping patients get to the root cause of their ailments. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time at the lake with his family.
